Hey Reader–
When your kids wake you this weekend— try this first.
You've been sitting with the idea that thirst is different from routine. That going through the motions and actually seeking God are not the same thing. Now it's Thursday — and I want to show you what that actually looks like on a Saturday morning when your kids climb into your room at 6:15 before you've had a single sip of coffee.
Episode 67 of the Faith-Filled Home — Stop Building Your Faith Life Around Your Kids. Build A FamilyPrayer Life With Them. — is all about building a faith routine that involves your kids so those early mornings that were supposed to be about you and Jesus, end up being a family faith moment instead!
This Week's Focus
We don't have to wait until it's quiet and we are alone to talk to God. We can do it any time — even right when we wake up.
"Talk about God at home, on your walks, when you wake up, and when you go to sleep." — Deuteronomy 6:7 (paraphrased for little ones)
This weekend, when your kids come padding into your room in the morning — before you reach for your phone, before you start the day, right there in the warmth of that sleepy first moment — try this.
Hey — is there anything you want to talk to God about today?"
Let them go wherever they go. It might be something sweet. It might be something random. It might be something that surprises you completely.
All of it belongs. Whatever they name — that's exactly what goes in the prayer. You're not curating their answer. You're just opening the door.
YOUR FOLLOW-UP
After they share, say something like:
"Okay — let's tell Him. He wants to hear it."
God wants the morning thing, the worried thing, the silly thing, the whatever-your-kid-just-said thing. And the most powerful thing you can do this weekend is show them that He does.
Before you get out of bed or leave the room — all of you put one hand in the middle like a team huddle. Do your BAM prayer right there. Hands in, pray it out, hands up at the end.
It takes thirty seconds. It turns the moment they interrupted into the moment they'll remember.
Be Honest: God, we want to be honest — sometimes mornings feel rushed and we forget to talk to You first.
Ask: We're asking You to be with us today, in all the regular stuff and the hard stuff too. (Let the kids add theirs.)
Magnify: And God, You are here — even before we wake up, You're already here. We think that's amazing. Amen.
That thirty-second huddle in your bedroom before the day started — that was a faith space. You didn't need a quiet house or an early alarm or a perfect plan. You just needed them to walk in the door.
They've been walking in that door every morning. Now, Reader, you know what to do with it.
This week's episode: Stop Building Your Faith Life Around Your Kids. Build A Family Prayer Life With Them. I'm sharing the story of how the "wake up before your kids" advice kept failing me — and what I found on the other side of letting it go. If your faith routine hasn't been fitting your life, this one is going to feel like permission. Listen here:
The interruption was always the invitation. You just needed someone to tell you.
I will see you on the porch. 💜
P.S. — Hit reply and tell me — what does your morning faith moment look like? I want to hear about your kids. Want a chance to be featured on the show? Record yourself (or your kids) answering this question here: https://www.bemightymom.com/speakpipe/
