Come Stressed, Leave Refreshed
Handing Fear Over to God
Hello Reader,
This weekend we celebrated Maximus turning four, the boy who inspired this whole ministry. It was a big one with Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Epic Universe, and family visiting. Honestly, I was nervous about how he would handle the changes and the long days.
But Max surprised me at every turn. He socialized with his cousin, adapted beautifully when guided through changes, and braved rides that I did not touch until adulthood. Just two days shy of turning four, he rode Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, a ride I did not try until I was 22. He had ridden it so many times on YouTube, he could anticipate the drops and I helped him find the fun parts throughout. Then came Ministry of Magic at Epic Universe, an intense Harry Potter ride even for adults.
I will never forget his little hand gripping mine when fear started to rise. Instead of shutting down, he trusted me enough to give me his fear and guide him through the experience. I watched as he sat upright in his seat, pointing out all the details with me. Instead of just comforting him through his fear, he trusted me enough to bring him out of it. So much so that he e came out laughing, saying it was his favorite ride.
Those moments reminded me that when we trust someone enough to hand over our fear, it can lose its power. That is what it looks like to trust God. When we give Him our fears, He does not just carry them. He leads us through them and helps us find joy on the other side.

Devotional of the Week
Isaiah 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Fear shows up in so many forms. It might be the unknowns of parenting, a diagnosis, a bill you are not sure how to pay, or the “what ifs” that creep in when life feels shaky. On the ride, I felt Max’s fear in the way he held on to me. But when he gave me his fear, I was able to steady him, help him, and show him joy on the other side.
Isn’t that the picture Isaiah gives us of God? His righteous right hand holds us steady. He strengthens us when our knees feel weak. He helps us take the next step when fear whispers that we cannot. He upholds us, not only keeping us from falling but lifting us into a place of courage and peace.
Reflection
Fear does not always disappear on its own. Sometimes it lingers until we place it into stronger hands. God does not promise that life will be free of fear, but He does promise that we will never face it alone. When we grip His hand, fear loses its power, and joy begins to take its place.
Journal Prompt
What fear are you carrying right now? Imagine placing it into God’s hand. How does it change the way you see your situation when you picture Him holding it for you?

A Closing Prayer
Lord, You know the fears I carry today. Some are small and some feel overwhelming, but all of them weigh heavy on my heart. Thank You for promising to strengthen me, help me, and uphold me with Your righteous hand. Teach me to release my fears into Your care instead of clinging to them. Fill me with joy and courage as I walk forward with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
