This Week's Scripture
"If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." — Matthew 17:20 (NIV)
Yeah, I made that text red for a reason...
Those words came from Jesus himself. Now, I get into it in the episode about how I literally thought I could move a mountain when I was a child. But I see it much differently now thinking about Jesus and his parables.
It makes me think of the Elvis Presley song, "You Gave Me A Mountain," because the mountain is the obstacle. And you bet your bottom dollar I am subjecting you to the video because why wouldn't I?
Jesus is telling us that the size of our faith does not matter.
Faith IS faith. And any size faith can move mountains.
Today, I want to introduce something new to you. I didn't even realize it until I looked at my prayer journal and saw it written out right in front of me — so I came up with CAST to remind myself of where to go when I feel anxiety creeping in. This is how I pray.
C. Concern. Bring your concern to God.
A. Ask. The ask you plan on bringing to God.
S. Scripture. Pull scriptures you want to bring to God related to your concern. (Use the index in your Bible, search for terms on the Bible App, or even turn to your favorite AI tool.)
T. Take It To Him. Lay it all out on the table.
"CAST all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."
— 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)
It's scary the first time you approach God like this if you've been taught to be afraid of Him, or if your faith isn't unshakable.
But I promise you, yes, actually PROMISE you, God is not waiting to condemn you. He is waiting to comfort you.
Take your mustard seed sized faith to Him.
